Swiss Brain League Research Grant - Call for proposals
Every four years, the Swiss Brain League awards a neuroscientific research grant as start-up financing for junior scientist. Any type of brain research at a recognized scientific institution or clinical department in Switzerland is eligible for the grant. Junior academics who studied medicine, biology, psychology, computer science, or a related subject are eligible. In principle, the grant should cover a one-year doctoral student salary in the first year if no other financial support is available. The Swiss National Science Foundation rates apply to the salary, with an upper limit of CHF 60,000 including social security.
The following criteria must be met to receive the research grant:
The applicant must have completed a master’s degree within the last five years.
There is no other funding.
The research project must be carried out in Switzerland.
In a reference letter, the research supervisor must confirm that the potential grant holder is suitable for the research project, and that the infrastructural, personnel, and methodological requirements for the research project are being met. Electronic applications (Word or PDF) in German, French, Italian, or English must include:
- Draft of the entire research project including definition of milestones in the funded first year: scientific problem / research question, current state of research, planned approach, explanation of the scientific value, schedule (max. 10 pages excluding bibliography), and a short summary (max. one A4 page) - Complete list of publications including impact factor and journal rankings
- Tabular CV
- Reference letter from the research supervisor
- Declaration that no submission of a similar proposal to any other funding institution is pending.
- Salary payment office which will administer the grant
A short report on what has been achieved is expected at the end of the year (one A4 page).
